Why are we sponsoring the Huntingdon Fireworks event?

I am sure no one will mind if we share this… Magpas Air Ambulance is possibly our favourite customer. Why? They do a phenomenal job of tending to critically ill patients across the East of England; they are genuinely lovely people and appreciate the support we give them.

It’s a pretty special year for them as they celebrate their 50th year saving lives across the region. We wanted to help with the return of their *legendary* fireworks display, so this year we are proud to sponsor the event. 

Who are Magpas Air Ambulance?

Magpas Air Ambulance brings the very best pre-hospital emergency care to the most critical patients in a life-threatening condition in the East of England. They are able to deliver care that would only be available in hospital with a highly dedicated team of air and land-based specialists. 

When they can’t fly, they are still able to deliver critical care services 24hrs a day. On average they answer four calls a day and treat approximately 900 patients a year requiring the time-critical medical expertise available to our communities.

Magpas can be called upon by both the East of England and East Midlands Ambulance Service, covering a population of over 10 million people.

This year marks 50 years of the oldest emergency charity of its kind. Since its inception in 1971, they have treated over 60,000 people. In 2020, their toughest year, they responded to 1,125 emergency calls.

They do not receive any state funding and completely rely on donations to continue to provide their life-saving service. To survive they have to raise a lot of money, and every penny you give counts.
