Ametek Muirhead MRO worked with Motive Graphics to deliver a full interior and exterior signage and graphics refresh at their head office in Langley, Berkshire, covering reception, meeting rooms, staff areas and the building’s glass frontage. The project spanned almost two years and included everything from bespoke wallpaper and Foamex lettering to external ACM wayfinding and large-scale window vinyl.
A full head office graphics refresh
We were already working with AMETEK MRO on their exhibition stands when they asked us to support a new challenge, refreshing the interior and exterior branding at their head office.
The building itself was clean and modern, but the spaces inside felt flat. White walls, little personality, and no real sense of brand as you moved through the building.
The brief was simple. Bring the space to life and make it feel like AMETEK MRO.
Designing for a tricky space
The reception area was the most challenging part of the project. Very high ceilings and an awkward layout made it difficult to measure and harder to design for.
The risk was either overwhelming the space or not creating enough impact. The design needed to flow, work from multiple viewpoints, and sit comfortably within a busy, high-traffic area.
The existing red bannisters were staying, so the scheme needed to complement them rather than compete. The colours had to stay true to brand, while still creating enough contrast to make the space feel considered and bold.
Externally, the building’s glass frontage meant traditional signage wasn’t an option. We used the glass itself as part of the solution.
A brand-led approach with personality
Inside the rest of the building, we used a combination of graphics to suit each space. Bold black-and-white imagery was paired with accents of AMETEK MRO’s red branding. Infographics and custom, on-brand interior wallpaper added colour and personality, particularly in the staff room. This approach created impact without overcomplicating the different areas.
Graphics were wrapped around walls and structural posts to maintain visual continuity throughout the building. Internal wayfinding was kept clear, functional and on brand. Externally, new wayfinding graphics were applied to existing posts to provide clear direction without introducing unnecessary new structures, including an aluminium composite (ACM) external wayfinder sign.
In meeting rooms, offices and boardrooms, dry-wipe boards were mounted onto Foamex panels to protect the walls and replace cluttered surfaces covered in sticky notes.
To finish, large-scale vinyl window graphics were applied directly to the glass frontage, ensuring the building was clearly identifiable from the outside and creating a strong first impression on arrival.
Managing the detail
The building remained live throughout the install, so careful planning was essential. We managed the full process, site surveys, design, production, installation, risk assessments and method statements, allowing the client to hand over the logistics with confidence.
From first concepts to final install, the project spanned almost two years, with multiple stakeholders and plenty of revisions along the way
The result
“The install went great! The guys were so lovely and did a fantastic job – I’ve had loads of really positive comments from people here about the signage and how it’s livened the place up. We’re so pleased with everything – thank you!
You’ve been so patient throughout the whole process, I know it hasn’t been a smooth ride, but we got there in the end! I’ve loved working with you, Hollie – thanks for everything!”

From our project lead
“Getting involved from the design stage gave us the chance to think carefully about how the space worked and how different materials could be used without overcomplicating the design.
The reception saw the biggest change, with layered materials and subtle depth creating a clear sense of arrival.”
